Annual Report St. John's School Commission Accomplishments and Disappointments 2009-2010 School Year
Accomplishments
- Narrowed focus to only two committees with specific focus
- Capital Campaign Committee made significant progress:
- Wrote articles of incorporation as a agency fund
- Determined purpose of fund to be; Teacher & Staff Salaries, Technology,
- Infrastructure and Student Aid
- Met with the Catholic Community Fund organization
- Created a very professional Case Statement campaign booklet
- Made several major donor contacts and planned events for others
- Marketing Committee made progress:
- Wrote a one page school marketing message listing several impactful benefits
- Created a pamphlet that provides concise information about St. John's School and
- distributed to all religious ed. students of St. John's and St. Ben's
- Spoke at all masses held a St. Ben's one weekend and met with their parishioners
- after masses
- Hosted second open house for St. Ben's families
- Determined plan for bagging at Super One next year
- Updated the Commission Constitution & Bylaws
- The spaghetti dinner raffle raised $2200 and despite great planning and organization the
- dinner was canceled due to weather
- Filled an open commission position and named a vice-president
- Started accreditation process
- Updated school mission & philosophy
- Teachers have progressed in all of their areas
- Completed Parent Survey and summarized results
- Several commission members provided volunteer resources for events such as October
- Fest, Halloween Dance, Chili Cook-off, Santa Breakfast, Christmas Baskets delivery, Spring
- Benefit Dinner, etc.
- Conducted "normal" commission business; reviewed budget, met with teachers, recruited
- next year's commission members, etc.
Disappointments
- Decided to defer speaking at St. John's masses until next school year during Catholic
- Schools Week
- Long Range Plan for school accreditation will be tackled next year
- School website resource not finalized
